Social Media Corps

It is no small feat for bloggers to have an audience with the most powerful man in the Philippines. It is a far greater accomplishment to revolutionize the media monopoly in Malacañang.

Through the intercession of Thinking Pinoy, the information floodgates of the palace have been opened to the new and interactive platform of media communications. People with access to the internet will now have equal access and opportunity to the president as the Malacañang Press Corps.

This triumph in media is not one for bloggers. It is a victory shared by everyone in cyberspace.

We are the writers that do not just announce and proselytize to the public. We engage them and they likewise become engaged as they get to participate in the discussions.

Social media is real time response to public queries. It is the public vicariously present in the palace. It is authentic public representation in state affairs through media. It is unfiltered transmission of briefings and presidential activities.

From the Executive Order on the FOI to the social media corps, President Duterte continue to break the shackles on information from the monopoly of the moribund traditional media.

An evolving market place of ideas will now have a bigger stake in in formation. The future is now. Change has come and it will continue to do so under this administration whose only concern are destabilizing oligarchies and monopolies while empowering its ordinary citizens.
