Twisted Morality
How many videos and photos are there of De Lima belting out Careless Whisper at the sound stage Herbert Colangco put up inside his Bilibid "accommodations?" What of the photo of Leila with Kerwin Espinosa and his common law wife at Burnham Park? Yet De Lima and the Yellowtards feign innocence and claim political persecution on the part of the Duterte administration when it brought charges against the Senator yesterday at the Muntinlupa RTC.
Yesterday, the Vice-President was the featured guest again at ANC's Headstart hosted by Karen Davila. Sound bites and snippets were posted on social media last night detailing "pertinent" points raised by Robredo during the interview. What was laughable was the Vice-President denying she had plans to run for the Presidency. Leni Robredo should be given the moniker of being the Most Reluctant Candidate in Philippine politics. She was "persuaded" and "reluctantly" ran for Congress in the third district of Naga in 2013. She was again "persuaded" and "reluctantly" ran for Vice-President in 2016. Even her daughters were supposedly against her running and had to be "persuaded" as well. Prior to this, a photo of her waiting for a Naga bound bus at the Shell Magallanes gas station was made to go viral on social media. It was part and parcel of her packaging as she was being prepared to be sold to the Filipino people as the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Liberal Party.
These two women denigrate their own gender with their actuations despite their being in positions of power. The Senator has confessed to a relationship with her married driver cum bodyguard. A lawyer of De Lima's standing should know better. She shrugs this off as part of the frailties of a woman. In one respect, she's strong and promises to fight on against the "butchery" of the Duterte administration. On the other, she's frail when it comes to her emotions and couldn't resist the lure to fill her emotional void. Now comes the Vice-President denying a relationship with the Congressman from the second district of Quezon City Jorge 'Bolet' Banal. Rumors and photos of the two have flooded social media since the campaign for the 2016 elections kicked off with the filing of certificates of candidacy in October 2015. The rumored pregnancy of the VP spread like wildfire November - December last year and the photos released by the OVP for the same period made the public take a second and a third look at the physical appearance of Robredo as it was obvious that she had gained weight and started wearing loose clothing.
Both De Lima and Robredo are lawyers by profession and should know better than to consort with married men. One might say, so what in this day and age. The obvious comparison would be the President who has been living in with his common-law wife. What is sauce for the gander should also be sauce for the goose. The difference is how the two women in power can be hypocrites and liars in defense of their foray into forbidden territory. The narrative turns into the pot calling the kettle black. The Bishops condemn the President but are quiet on the same issue when it comes to these two women, one having engaged and the other still in the process of being engaged in an illicit relationship. If not morality, it's just a question of hypocrisy. This is what the Yellowtards are good at practicing. Doesn't have to be true. Just needs to look like it.
