God Online, Soldiers on the Streets

Social media has carved out paths to divinity for some bloggers. They have ascended to celestial heights through their posts, videos or memes that their followers liked or reposted. Their truths have become the daily scripture and spiritual quickening of their fanatical followers. Their creations are the reality in their circle's newsfeeds. They are gods with words.

It is when words need to be validated with actions that distinguish gods. Will they be able to come down from their lofty seats behind their keyboards and shed their blood, sweat and tears on the streets. Jesus, Buddha, the Prophet all showed humility, humanity and courage before transcending the mortal coil. They did not stand back, strategize and hide. They lived in the presence of their followers. They led by example on the streets and not under a rock somewhere away from the fray and battle, as soldiers for their cause.

It is time to stand for something. It is time to leave the cushy places behind our monitors and LED lit temples of touchscreen technology. We all go to the streets and be a soldier for our faith in our democracy, our faith in our country.
