One Saturday
There are very few moments in a country's history where everyday people like us can have a crucial role in. A chance to lay a brick in the foundation of our children's future against criminals, criminal loving people, leeches of oligarchs, and peddlers of lies (corporate media).
Like the metaphor says, it is a very simple act of using your hand to pick up one brick to lay down on the foundation. It is just deciding that Saturday night will be given to your country instead of your Netflix show or your barkada.
It is listening to the distant crackle in your heart that says - it is time to show my yearning for true peace and order, for true progress, for a government who cries for the poor and extend a helping hand.
It is going against your lizard brain that tells you that its not worth it, there will be other people to take up your place. Better to just do fun stuff on a Saturday night.
There will be plenty of Saturdays, there will be plenty of foodie nights, there will be plenty of quality time with family and friends. But there will be only one February 25, 2017, one night to unfurl that big giant flag and carry it in our hearts, one time to be with Filipinos who stood against the tyranny of the elites who got the media and corporations by the throat.
