Dawn of a New Age
Whew. De Lima's antics kept us up all night. Glad to know everybody's tuned in. The last time the whole country slept we woke up to the abomination we now have as our VP. Anyway, regardless of what kind of drama De Lima tried to pull out of her ass, she still found her way to the slammer. Too many developments, but so far here are the highlights:
1. De Lima's supporters are still squabbling over lost or misplaced funds (#TeamKenzo and #TeamMaane) so the "mob" they were expecting turned about to be about 20 or so banner bearing "supporters" who are either afraid, ashamed or simply allergic to dust to even show their faces in public.
2. None of the members of the DOL (Dirty Old Ladies) club actually showed up to uphold their promise of accompanying Leila to jail. Where is Karina? Dinky? Ging Deles? Anyone?
3. Koko Pimentel's true colors have been exposed for what they truly are - varying shades between green and orange in the spectrum - but still undeniably yellow. It's a shame, but hey, that's life.
4. The whole country is wondering where De Lima's 13 million voters are, especially at this time that the embattled senator needs their support the most.
5. Even the trolls seem silent. Tune in to any mainstream news coverage or video streamed live and you'll see the number of likes, hearts and happy faces celebrating De Lima's arrest. Anyare? Where are the angry emoticons?
6. Millions of Filipinos are actually rejoicing, exchanging high fives and hosting thanksgiving parties not just in the country but all over the world.
8. Somebody in Times Street has endured another long sleepless night, contemplating the truly frightening prospect that he could be joining De Libs in the not so distant future.
9. A Facebook page just changed its name to Oras Na, Rehas Na.
10. Surprised by the unanticipated timing of the arrest, the conspirators are busy recalibrating their plans for the 25th. Leila's arrest was supposed to be the catalyst for their so-called "uprising." But so far the only thing it catalyzed is their inevitable and precipitous demise, fueled by the loathing and disdain of an awakened populace unwilling to allow them to put us back to where we once were.
This is the dawn of a new age, peeps. Karma is indeed a wicked bitch. But damn, is she welcome!
