Infidelities

Perhaps even much earlier.
When some party mates visited Jesse's ancestral home in Brgy. Tabuco in '98 just before the campaign period started, there was a bit of a ruckus when Leni suddenly arrived all furious and hysterical.
She had just heard news that one of Jesse's rumored mistresses got pregnant, AGAIN.
Jesse was caught unawares when Leni stormed in, so he desperately tried to contain the situation.
So Jesse's father, Tio Peping, rounds up Jesse's party mates to transfer to another room.
Tio Peping had a degenerative condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa, which caused him to be blind. Yet everyone who knew the old man could attest that Tio Peping remained razor sharp, despite his condition.
In a hushed tone, Tio Peping told Jesse's partymates: "Digdi muna kita (Dito muna tayo)."
But everyone in that room could hear Leni's hysterics.
The silence in that room was deafening.
Nobody dared say a word.
