So here's the scenario: Top wanted drug lord Richard "Buang" Prevendido suddenly ends up getting killed while Jed Mabilog shits himself abroad. Then you have news of Iloilo cops opposing Espenido's transfer there because according to them he lacks the requisite qualifications.

A while ago, we told you that drugs in places like Iloilo City won't thrive unless it enjoys the protection of 1. the local officials (from the city or town mayor down to the barangay level - same case everywhere from Ozamiz to Naga City and 2. the police (which are most likely controlled by the same local officials who either protect the drug lords or run the show themselves).

Let us give you an example. Remember Melvin Odicta alias Dragon? Top drug lord in Iloilo City who was made to eat lead last year just months after Duterte became President? Odicta's brother Noel is chairman of Barangay Tanza Esperanza. Odicta's right hand man Jacob "Bonjing" or "No Fear" Espinosa or whatever the fuck he prefers to call himself (Why do these criminals have this propensity for stupid aliases? Buang, Bonjing, No Fear? Seriously?) is a councilor in Barangay Monica Blumentritt while his wife Dabing sits as Barangay Chairman.

One of Barangay Chairman Noel Odicta's councilors and political lieutenants is Samuel Rubinas, Sr. His son and namesake Samuel Rubinas, Jr. is a cop who is assigned to the intel division in Iloilo City.

The Odictas are very close to Mabilog. So are the Espinosas based on the pictures you saw the last time. The Odictas and the Espinosas have henchmen who are in the police service. In the case of this guy Rubinas Jr., the intel division itself.

So was this a step-up or a cleanup? We'd like to think both. Jed is desperately trying to eradicate everything and everyone that can point to his complicity in this mess with the help of narco cops under his payroll and they're all trying to impress the President that they're doing something and by doing something, casualties must be shown.

Too bad for Buang though. Poor guy never probably knew what's coming. Guy's a sacrificial goat in the Iloilo version of a crossover between Game of Thrones and Narcos.

Should everybody rejoice now? Nah. This shit is far from over.
